Beyond the Hook is a daily listening app that helps you engage with music intentionally. We're committed to protecting your privacy and being transparent about what data we collect and how we use it.
What Information We Collect
Account Information
When you create an account, we collect your name, email address, and password (encrypted). You can also optionally set your timezone for a better experience.
Listening Activity
We track which playlists you subscribe to, which songs you've unlocked, and your daily listening progress.
Your Reflections
Any comments or reflections you write about songs are stored privately. These are only visible to you and members of your band (if you're in one).
Band Information
If you create or join a band with friends, we store band membership details and invite information.
How We Use Your Information

- • To maintain and troubleshoot the service
Third-Party Services
We use a few trusted services to make the app work:
- • Anthropic – We use Claude AI to generate the contextual stories about songs
- • Hosting Provider – Your data is securely hosted on Laravel Cloud infrastructure
We do not sell your personal information to anyone. Ever.
Your Privacy Choices
Your comments are private. They're only visible to you and your band members (if you're in one). We will never make your reflections public.
No public pages. All song pages and content require authentication. Nothing you write is visible on the open internet.
Control your data. You can update your account information anytime in settings. If you want to delete your account, contact us at privacy@beyondthehook.com.
Security
We take reasonable measures to protect your information, including encrypted passwords, secure connections (HTTPS), and regular security updates. However, no internet service is 100% secure, and we can't guarantee absolute security.
Children's Privacy
Beyond the Hook is not intended for children under 13. We don't knowingly collect information from children under 13. If you believe we've collected information from a child under 13, please contact us immediately.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this privacy policy from time to time. If we make significant changes, we'll notify you via email or through a notice in the app. Continued use of the service after changes means you accept the updated policy.
